Aperture for outdoor daylight and manual for indoor or outdoor under the lights (or flash).

For you at this time, probably none. However, in conditions where speed of operation trumps exposure precision and to someone who has made peace with aperture mode, aperture priority would be faster, though perhaps at some expense in exposure precision.

Thank you for the response. I wondered if I was missing something by not being comfortable with it. You've eased my mind on that!

Try shooting fast moving sports on a cloudy day, when your exposure is constantly changing as a result.

I have and I do so all the time. You have to be not just familiar with the operation of your camera bodies but very comfortable with their operation.

That is all fine and good, but that is the one case where auto works better, IMO. You just never know when that cloud is going to cover the sun and it's usually at the worst time!

I also like Av for baseball, where the batter is in shade, some positions are backlit and others frontlit, and you don't know where the ball is going to go, much less have time to fiddle with the controls.

It just isn't worth the hassle.

That explains that, I don't shoot sports
