Dark Frame (calling all tech guys...and gals)
I just noticed about two months ago that my 5D was acting a little funky any photo taking over 1/4000 is very very dark (I'd say about 3-4 stops) maybe only showing a few of the highlights. At first I thought my shutter was dying but didn't have the time to send it in because I have been very busy lately and don't want to be down a body. But nothing has changed over the past 2 months of shooting thousands of shots....still 1/4000 can be perfectly exposed (or even blown) then 1/5000 will be very under exposed.
I typically don't shoot at that high a speed so it is not really a problem for me right now, one of my thoughts was that the mirror was maybe moving to slow or bouncing to much but I did a bunch of tests today with the mirror locked up and still the same results.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be? A little more info......It's not making any strange noises and I've never had a missed frame at 1/4000th or slower. I also did a smart collection and as far as what I have in LR I've never gone above 1/4000th So I may have always had this problem?

Similar problem here: Bad Shutter - 5D ? - Photo.net Canon EOS Forum
They replaced the shutter and mirror assembly to fix.
