Did your camera come from Amazon or was it through a secondary seller which Amazon often does. In my experience things often get fouled up if there is another dealer involved. Either way I say send it back for a refund and then you can go out and buy it from someone that has them in stock. I'll bet B&H or Adorama will sell it to you a lot quicker than what Amazon is saying. Mike

It had to be a 2nd party. Amazon is not an authorized retailer of Nikon products.

One company sent me a box with the body and no lens even though it was on the packing slip. Fortunately as they weigh each package to determine postage rates it proved the lens could not have been in the box. I wonder had this not been possible how I would have proved my case as I had to open the box to find out!!
I had a Leica D-Lux 5 arrive quite well packed but noticed thumbprints on the lens. I then checked the preview without putting a card in and saw images of the shop it was from in the buffer!! I requested a replacement but got such a run-around it took 4 weeks of shouting (after being nice had failed) and letters before I got a replacement - I had to return it at my expense then was told they were out of stock and I wouldn't get a refund or replacement until they had checked the camera out. They made it very hard to actually get an admission of fault on their part even though it patently was. So no more orders for J_c_b's in the UK - I bought a M9 and two lenses elsewhere as they obviously don't understand UK consumer law! |

There are a number of these open box post now on the web. One needs to remember, in regards to the actual Nikon camera box, that all were reopened for the inspection of the battery awhile back. The guys/gals that did the inspection were not the factory packing crew! It was whomever, in the Nikon distribution channel, that had possession of the box.
