ScatterChat (http://www.scatterchat.com/) is designed to allow non-technical people to communicate securely and anonymously while operating in hostile territory. It is also useful in corporate settings, or in other situations where privacy is desired.

It is a secure instant messaging client that provides end-to-end encryption, integrated onion-routing with Tor, secure file transfers, and easy-to-read documentation.

Scatterchat could be a welcome tool to the extreme copyright-conscious among us.

I work in a hostile environment (well, if you count dodging the odd ball of paper flying overhead in the office...). This looks like it's simply tunnelling traffic through an SSL type connection? I currently use Kopete on a Linux box and apparently it has an SSL patch that I guess would do the same thing. I've never bothered looking into it though as you'd need to be talking to someone who can accept your encryption and I don't know anyone that paranoid .
