Default Camera battery life Problems

I have a very primitive Canon Powershot 350, no zoom and under 2 mega pixels. Everything works fine through the power adaptor. The problem comes in the form of a horendous battery life. Normal batteries last for about 2 seconds. Ni-Cads last for 4 seconds. Is there any way to fix this fault without consulting Canon?

I've had the same problem with a Canon portable. The only way I know to address the issue is by either 1) buying a new battery or 2) sending the camera back.

Camera batteries *do* wear out.

Here's a good source for replacement batteries, often better than the ones you'll get with your camera:

Then comes my next point. I've had two Canon portable cameras just die, apparently from old age, but who knows? These camera simply aren't made for the abuse that they often take. That's what I think.

At least it's not a big loss.

I have another question. What does the macros do exactly?

And it drains them in seconds? Obviously a short-circuit in the camera.
So it's either repair or replace the camera.
With a 9 year old Powershot 350 (640x480) I'd choose the second option.
Any cell-phone with camera these days has a higher resolution.
