Default EBAY help!

Hello all,

I havent been hanging around here often lately...

Anyway, i am looking at two ebay auctions right now (and i am seriously interested).
They are auctions for Canon EOS 1Ds second hand body.

The problem is that i am living in australia whereas these two sellers are in UK and US.
They are willing to post worldwide.

I would like to ask for your opinions here.
Are these two sellers look "honest" to you?
I have emailed them both and they seem to be friendly.
has any of you had any experience buying expensive stuff from overseas before?

Here are the links for the auctions:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Canon-EOS-1Ds...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

many many thanks for the help

Neither strikes me as a scam, but I'd be more inclined to trust the US one - more feedback, and they've been a member for over 6 years. Either way, I'd pay with a credit card (not your paypal account, if you have one), and give them 20 days to get it to you. That way you have time to file a claim with your card and get your money back.

The one from the US has a stripped tripod mount. I don't know how much of a problem that will be for you. Never stripped one so not sure how hard it would be to fix. Keep your eyes on both and keep the going price of a new one in mind so you don't spend too much on a used one. If you don't need the lenses you can always resell them and get some of your money back.

I used to do a lot of business on ebay (buying and selling). I have never been ripped off and only had one bad buyer.

They both seem to have favorable comments. It is a lot of money, though. I agree, use your credit card. The first seems to have more extras as well as no shipping costs. Not sure if that includes AU.

Sorry, I can't be of more assistance.

Sorry to *sort of* thread hijack, but this got me wondering, is there a registery - so if your buying used gear, you can check if it's been reported stolen? I think all of our camera's have serial numbers and it would add a layer of comfort when buying used gear....
