I do it the lazy way , I select the files in " my pictures " and click on "email selected files " , XP then asks if I want them made smaller , I then send them to anyone and "stop" the email before it goes and go to my outbox , open the message and "save attachments " which I use for this forum , takes about 20 seconds . If you want to be exact and get the biggest size you can squeeze on then you need editing software like Photoshop where you can resize images exactly .

Go to this link and down load it. It's REAL easy. You want your pictures about 700 on the longest length.

Many file viewing utilities can do this and any image editing package worth the money can resample your image and save it as a JPEG at whatever compression ratio you want, but you don't always know how big the resulting file is until you have done the save.
Many also have an export function specifically intended to save a copy of your file to the web. Using this function will allow you to adjust the compression and tell how big the file will be before you actually do the export (save). You still need to reszmple the image as a separate option. For many images a bit of sharpening (unsharp masking) will help restore crispness to the image that may have been lost in the resampling process. __________________
