What's wrong with having one vote?

Come election day, we only get one vote.

I resized a photo to 800 on the long side and uploaded it last night, everything seemed to work fine as I ended up in the display of images for the contest. However, my post did not show. I tried again today with the same results. Could my file size be too big, I could not find a restriction on that, only the pixel width?

Jim, it's easy for a 600x800 to exceed the limits here.....just make sure your jpeg compression is enough to bring the file size down....I think to around 130K, or so.....cheers....Bob

I just checked and it is just a tad under 100k in size. I am headed out for the evening but will check into it later.
Thanks

If you have any queries about the contest then please post them in this thread. Do not post your entries here - use the contest page in the gallery.
Why has the voting begun? Isn't the submission deadline the 29th? That's what it says above. (see red text)

In looking over the entries in the contest I see that each entry has beneath it a link that says "vote" - except mine which says "0 votes". Is this just an interlock to prevent people from voting for their own entry?? Curious minds want to know..........

That would be my question, too. I was going to try make a last minute submission, but if voting has started, I'm not going to bother.

If we don't hurry up and get the voting done and over, the prize will be a "slightly used LensBaby 2.0 with Macro Kit"

If the submission period ends Sunday 29th and then the voting starts after that, how come the voting has started now?
Also, does everyone have to be a member to vote?

Yes, but then you have only two candidates you can vote for, although neither of them you like, that is what it is called (a non Ancient Greek) democracy... here, there are so many beautiful photos that it is difficult to make one's mind... but it should be possible to select the best I like...

Sorry - there's been a slight cock-up in how long this contest should run for. As the announcement to vote has already gone out, and as the voting has already begun I think it's best to leave it as it is. We already have many hundreds of submissions and weren't getting any more for the last few days so I don't think any damage has been done.
