The black and white conversion looks good although the hair are completely drowned in the background. The colour picture doesn't look like an improvement, and if it is, the original picture wasn't worth working on.

A little harsh, Korman...

I think that in order to give you some constructive feedback, it might be helpful to see the original images - especially of #1. As it is, we have nothing to compare and so no basis to tell you whether or not what you've done has made an improvement (in our opinions).

As I see it right now, the images is overblown and doesn't really give any impact other than "wow, that's really bright" I think there's also some pixelation as well. If you'd post the original, then I can offer more than just my first impression.

I agree, with the originals it would be easier to show alternatives. As to the first, one just can hope the processing is unfortunate and the original is a solid base to work on.
