I took a bunch of photos yesterday walking around, and of the kids. A few I thought would look good with this type, or something similar, effect. Did I succeed, or is there something else I should try?

I really like your new one. Has a real old time summertime look. Kinda Mayberry looking. I'm assuming these are your boys? If they were mine, I'd hold on to this picture for a long time or better yet, a framed 20 x 24 on your wall for the rest of your life.

Thank you jackcat. The idea originally was to have a mayberry look actually. I got the idea by accident on the first shot. And then I was going to go back and have them carrying fishing poles, but in my excitement to get back, i left the poles at home, doh!! But I'm still very happy with this. My plan was to get a 20x30 of this one. I can't wait to get this one printed out.

You should move this to portrait/people where theres more people looking. I don't know what it is about this photo but I really think it would score at the top of most competitions. One of my top pics of all time on this forum!

I don't think they are too dark at all. The dark and bright spots give it a dreamy feel. In the first picture, I think the kids are too far at the edge of the frame. Your second version, however, is a killer! I love the placement of the road and the shirtless and shoeless boys add to the country feel. I've got to echo Jackcat's comments as well! Nice done.

I used an action called Midnight Sepia form ActionCentral. I love the effect, and it looks great on old barns also. Quote:
