I think i first saw these here....??
So i decided to try these myself and so far i'm very happy with the results. A word of warning though, once you have the right set up it's very easy to get carried away and before you know it you've shot 20+ shots......but it also gives you a good choice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

These look great! For me the white background works best, but it's just personal taste. Out of curiosity, what's your setup?

I used my Uniloc 1700 pod, a sigma 105mm macro lens, a cheap crappy jessops flash gun, i used that because i can use the long sync cables i have, but would prefer to use the Canon 430EX but the can't get a cable long enough. For the background, i use a black mount board and insense sticks for the smoke. I only started taking these yesterday and the first lot were awfull, i could hardly see the smoke, so i moved the flashgun a little closer and slightly behind the smoke and that gave me the best light catchment. To make the background go white all you do is invert the image after getting the RAW settings right, then use the gradient tools to add the colour. I can add a link to where i learnt from and to give more ideas of colour....?? |

Hi Karl,
I stumbled across these on my way to my dark bathroom for taking some more of these myself (had to stop at the computer to check which settings I used last time). Great job, #3 and #5 are my faves, you can see I prefer the black bg. Off I go, wish me curly smoke ![]() |
