LOL - Nice article.

I do "Pet Pictures with Santa" which is sponsored by a local pet supply company and benefits our local Humane Society. Working with pets (of all kinds, and with less than a brief introduction) is an art and a science. Having the lighting preset, and a remote shutter release is essential.

I've had horses, ducks, snakes, ferrets, dogs, cats, children and parents (and maybe a few others) in past pet pics... along with Santa and the holiday tree. Most patrons really care more about their pet's image than the other props... Santa and the tree are just props; and underastand their role.

I'll shoot at least one "full scene", however, the images most often selected are the closeups, maybe with Santa's hand or face if a small pet, or a lap on up with pet on lap if medium sized. Obviously the horses(3), ducks(5), and larger dogs (7) were really a "filled frame" - LOL

Thanks ND,

While 95 percent of my customers are of the canine variety, I do get the opportunity to photography some "different" pets such as pet rats, ducks, goats, pigs, alligators, as well as your garden variety rabbitts, bearded dragons, and birds. Here are a few samples

Some unusual pets I have photographed: Picasa Web Albums - Pets - Unusual Pets#
