Very sweet photo although I don't understand your reference to high key - this is very low key with all the black. Is there something I'm missing?

Yesterday my cat was sleeping on my pillow - I wish I had a photo because it was sweet like this kitty is.

I used a curves layer to increase the contrast in the light, making the light really bright and the background really dark.

I think you likely followed the tutorial very nicely but have maybe missed the definition of high key? High key is predominantly light or white tones with very little black and very low contrast. * High key - (Photography): Definition

I still like the photo though.
