I got a new backdrop; nobody to try it with yet so I went with what I had. The kitty cat works in a pinch.
I wish I had taken off her collar. I always forget that. C&C welcome. thanks!==Judy ![]() ![]() __________________

Judy,
I love that back drop and the color. Very, very classy! Like the photographer! Also love your cat! She has Star Quality written all over her and looks like she doesn't mind posing for you! Now that is great! Very nice job Judy and would love to see more of your cat! You do nice work with her ![]() Dakota PS: Met a man yesterday who was walking his cat on a leash and full chest harness. That cat looked very, very pleased with herself!!! She knew people were staring at her so she was acting very regal, which is easy for a cat anyway. Was a cute scene with the Guy being about 6 ft. 6 in. and about 285 and this wonder of a black and white cat maybe all of 12 lbs. Wish I had taken that picture! Shame on ME!!!! ![]() |

Thanks for the comment folks!
Whaas, thank you. This is what she normally looks like with the collar and i think it's fine for candid shots. However, in a portrait, i think it's a bit distracting, just as a studio portrait of a person in a sleeveless shirt or wearing a big piece of jewelry on their wrist would be distracting. It takes away from the picture i think. (especially a hot pink collar ) Quote:
![]() Hey Dakota, thanks for stopping by. I wish I could have seen that cat on a leash. What a funny sight and not something you see too often. I will try to get my other cat Rufus up on that stool. He's not really into it though; would rather hide all day instead. Until then, here's another shot from the same day. My girl, Babe. I posted this somewhere else and someone said she looked scared This expression is more like "Not another picture......okay, this is the last one!" Thanks Dakota ==Judy |

I love saddle brown backdrops. They are so versatile and flattering.
The kitty would have been better without the collar, but, it is one of those hindsight things, sometimes you just don't see things until reviewing them. I try and remember to get them off everytime. I really like the second cat photo, the one thing I would have done different on both is add a reflector in for just a bit more fill on the off side. Love the expression on your pug. It is perfect. Doesn't look scared to me, just a typical soulful pug look. Your light was a bit high on that shot, and lowering it just a hair for that shot would have lit up the mask and eyes just a bit more. Nitpicky stuff though! |

LoL Dakota, you're too funny!
Hey, thanks llpoolej, for the critique on this. I'm fairly new to studio lighting so every little bit of advice helps. You are right about the cat shot. It is a bit dark. I did have a second light but I must've forgot to reposition it after I got the cat on the stool. I have to think ahead; once the flashes go off, she doesn't like to stay on the stool too long. Thanks for the compliments on my pug, too! Yep, typical look from her. I always seem to have a hard time getting her mask lit and alot of the time I have to do it in PP. I will take your advice for the next time Thanks again!==Judy |

Wow Jay, Thanks so much! You've just made my day. What a compliment!
I waited forever for the backdrop to get here. I ordered it through Larson Ent. and probably overpaid a bit but I'm really happy with it so far. It was hard to tell from the picture how dark the brown was but it turns out I like it better than I expected. Thanks again, Jay ==Judy |

azrussel, thank you. Yes, she does have a nice set of whiskers. In the past, she has gotten them a bit too close to the burning candles

I have very little experience with pet shots, but that 2nd cat one is as interesting, sharp, and appealing as any people portrait that I've seen. For some reason, I don't think the collar is all that distracting in the second one. Nice job IMHO.
