And so am I. Used them for years. From the humble ME SUPER, through 2 SFXN's and now a K200D, and I'm still using all my original Pentax lenses.. Perfect condition as well..!

Gday,

IMHO the K1000 is still a great manual camera, I wish I still had one (maybe ebay has a few , I own a K10D and a large amount of lenses to support full frame and APS-C sensors. The film camera I still own is a Pentax MZ-50 - feels soooo small compared to the K10 with battery grip.
Looking to upgrade now and keep the k10 as a backup. Is the K-7 a upgrade for the K-20?? one wonders about the possability of a k70 or k700

James

Hi
I have a Pentax Super A with Pentax 35-70mm lens, exellent results, still with me , i have taken many rolls of slide , some got published in magazines, result of Pentax lens was superb, color was the best. i donot know why Pentax stopped making good cameras around 1988 onwards, and went out of market, prior to 1990 Pentax was the leader , i still remember Pentax LX, Pentax ME Super, Pentax Program, Pentax P50, Penax P 30 and all rounder Pentax K 1000.
My Super A has all the function required by a pro photographer like Aperture Priority, Program, Shutter Priority, Full Manual, TTL Flash EXCEPT AUTO FOCUS, which was new in 1986.
Still i am a Pentax lover.
Thanks
alok

I haven't a Pentax despite i see this product with interest.
In Italy should come out in July.
Does not appear to be a simple upgrade to the K20D because:
100 % viewfinder;
as a better body (magnesium);
perhaps a better AF;
an improved sealing;
a better lcd display;
etc.
On the italian forum pentaxiani some user as try an pre-series exemplary.

Also perhaps will be accompanied by two kit lens water resistence.

Pentax K7d

Samsung is producing sensors for Pentax, Hoya is now the parent company. Fine cameras and glass if a little misunderstood. I'm a happy owner of a k20d, thinking about the new k7

old pentaxian here as well - started with k1000 and ME - still use the ME glass on my ist*DL (which must be upgraded to the excellent looking K7, despite that silly video function...)

stuck to pentax because of the glass compatibility - using Sigma 17-35mm on an ME with nice film is something special! and using the 50mm 1.7 ME kit lens on a ist* DL is nice for low light (only if you have a split image focus screen installed - otherwise it is hit and miss, or rather even more hit and miss...)

still, every now and then i glance at nikon or canon with a little envy...

Have been using Pentax for nearly 30 years now - switching at that time from Yashica/Contax, when the Pentax LX came into the market, which I bought outright. This camera is still with me, along with the remaining MX, Super A and PZ-1p bodies (others recently sold off). Today I use K20 and K10 bodies and an assortment of 40 MF and AF lenses. I'll only leave the Pentax system, when the last working body breaks down and cannot be repaired... The lenses are very good (not all Pentax glass was good, they had el chapo and accordingly poor lenses as well) and I simply love the handling ... Sometimes it seems strange to me, how attached I got to my tools...

I have a complete Nikon rig but my Pentax K1000 is so groovy

I got irate that Nikon intentionally disables the metering of manual focus lenses on their consumer level dSLR - so mad I that I ordered a Pentax K100D

Any Pentax dSLR can use any M42 or K-mount lens manufactured since 1949 (the M42 requires an inexpensive adapter)

The lenses are fun and cheap to collect and use, I get them for like $10 and $20 per lens

I have :
28/2.8
50/1.7
135/2.8
80-200/4
500/8

They are all nice metal and glass manual focus lenses most made in Japan

The lot is en route right now but soon I'll have some example pics

I used to own M42 lenses and shoot them adapted on a Canon, but I always wanted to try a Pentax. The K100D was only $210 (shipped) and adds shake reduction to any lens

Long live Pentax !

I watched you sell a bunch of M42's earlier but it looks like you have a plethora left. That 500/8 is a rare one.
Careful with off brand adapters as they can get stuck if the retaining spring breaks. I think you know Hin but here is his take on the adapters in case I'm mistaken. Hin's blog

Default Re: Who owns Pentax?

The 500/8 is off brand, Beroflex 500mm

I got the Beroflex 500/8 and a 3X teleconverter for $30 shipped

I got a Rokinon X2 teleconverter with a Rokinon 28/2.8 for $18 shipped

This means I can go 500mm, 1000mm, or 1500mm for $48 as long as I have a camera that meters manual lenses.

I could have gotten a X2 teleconverter compatible with my Nikon camera for $300, that coupled with my 200mm lens would get me to 400mm

The choice was simple, for this project I'd just get another camera. I like messing around with cameras and lenses anyway.

So I bought the Pentax K100D - NO WAY JOSE ! I attached a 50/1.7 Vivitar "K mount" lens I already had to it, I coudln't manually focus while staring through that dim penta-mirror viewfinder. It's darker than my Nikon D40 which is only compatible with AF lenses! So I am getting rid of that K100D and I have already ordered the Pentax *ist DS

pronounced Pentax issed DS or just "DS" for short

The "DS" has a bright glass penta-prism and can be used for manual lenses

Most of the lenses and the camera are in the mail, when they get here I'll be able to post some reviews.

I bought a German made 50/1.8 "Pentacon" lens but it arrived with fungus - I'll probably have more arrive with fungus but for the price I can't complain. I will have the fungus ones cleaned by :

Charles S. Fallis
2532 Keagy Road
Salem, VA 24153

FallisPhoto [at] aol [dot] com

He cleaned my medium format lens, Zeiss Biometar 80/2.8, I have that adapted to "K mount"

I have a lot of fun messing around with manual lenses

Cheers,
Craig
