Default Pentax K10D review on YouTube

Well, more of a marketing piece, but may be of interest to some.

Hello
I'm taking a cost look at it and the Samsung version the GX10 both the same cameras but the Samsung is $100 or so cheaper and comes with a 4 year warranty. Right now I have a Nikon and Olympus a full system for both and I get great support from Olympus so I'm hopeful they'll have something out at PMA. As for Nikon,.. well their Nikon and starting to go through some changes. The Pentax is cheaper and you'll get the same sensor, weather sealing ect. as the D200 at half the price, good deal. Same for the Samsung. I hope Olympus lowers the price of their lenses or Pentax starts a professional support system.

Have fun
Roger

The Pentax does not share a sensor with the D200. For the Nikon D200 and the D2X/S, Nikon and Sony have an exclusive agreement with those sensors. I believe the Pentax does share a sensor with the D80 and A100, which is a different item. The sensor doesn't matter so much as the ASIC/ADC connected to it; observe the differences in image quality between the A100 and D80, especially at high ISO.

I'd still have plenty of faith in Pentax; with the K100D, they're starting to display competence at ASIC processing, albeit a little late for the 6 MP DSLR crowd. I'd assume the K10D is just as good if not better.

I'm not so much interested in this camera as I am in the TAv ISO shifting mode.

I wasn't so interested in the Pentax once I realized they don't have decent and current lenses that are longer than 50mm

Pentax have many current and past lenses that are longer than 50mm. Sure there are more past lenses than current lenses but MTF data shows that a good number of them are better than equivalent Canon and Nikon offerings while also selling at a cheaper price point.

Pentax have the largest range of "designed for APS-C" lenses and also have a number of new designs due for release in 07. These include the weather sealed 16-50mm f2.8, 50-135mm f2.8 and 60-250mm f4.0 which have all been given the "*" designation, (the Pentax nomenclature for Pro series). Add the upcoming 200mm and 300mm primes which are also on the lens roadmap for 07 and there's enough choice at the tele end to keep most hubbys in trouble with their wives.

If you can't wait until these are released then try some of these fast primes which cover the 200mm to 1200mm range and, (as far as I know), are still available as special orders from Pentax.

cheers,
bazz.
