Only problem shooting square is that you lose resolution when you decide later to make it into an 4x5 or 4x6 crop. It's sort of like shooting in B&W JPG. If you know that is what you want, great. But if you change your mind later.......

Awwww ... poor sad puppy :-( But I DO feel your pain, cuz
the very same tragedy happens to me when I crop my own
24 MP 2:3 aspect ratio down to a square, and I'm left with
just a decrepit 16 MP resolution in my 1:1 aspect images.

While I could dream that manufacturors will come to their
senses and standardize on square sensors. Acoarst this is
NEVER gonna happen, cuz display screens are not square,
print paper is not square, and sales of "vertical grips" are
the last source of profit in the industry

BTW, I'd assume by your "Blad Boy" user ID that you ARE a
fan of square aspect images ? Or at least before they're
brutally cropped to odd aspect rectangles ?
