Default Possible purchase of a K20D need advice?

I have been offered a Pentax K20D for $640 with the lens kit, with 12965 shoots/shutter activations. Do you think this is a good deal?

What would you say would be a desirable shutter activation number to look for when purchasing a 2used DSLR?

Thanks
Matt

I would say good deal but you might find equal or better deals here. Many bodies are coming up for sale as Pentaxians upgrade to the K-7 or the newer K-x (some might consider the K-x a downgrade though). I have seen new bodies for around $620 but those deals are not around right now AFAIK though the deals may re-surface.
The estimated average shutter life is around 100,000 as I understand from reading on other fora.
I love my K10 and the availability of cheap quality glass...just went macro for less than $50.

Great camera very rugged. The shutter should go 150,000. I used a loaner for a month and the over all build, speed, iso, image quality was excellent. I have another system I'm tied to but if I was sure pentax would be around in a year I'd buying 2 k20d and a few primes.

Enjoy
Roger

I use a K20D and really like the camera. In fact, I sold my Canon 20D kit! The only point to look at is the price of the lenses. Since Pentax is not as common as Canon and Nikon, the 3rd party lenses are usually more expensive. Even Tokina lenses, which seem to be the same as Pentax Lenses (same manufacturer) are less.
