Default Sigma 1000mm cleaning help

I bought a second hand Sigma 1000mm f/13.5 mirror lens.
As you can see in the moon picture there are dust on the mirror.
Is it any possibility to disassemble the lens and cleaning it my self?

be very very carefull, you have a "first surface" mirror. That is, the reflective coating is on top, very easily to scratch. Much safer to do some dustspotting in PS.

Have you checked to make sure the dust isn't on the sensor.

It's not on the sensor. When looking through the front lens I can easily see dots on the lens mirror.

Photoshop is the best way to take care of your problem. If you scratch the mirror it is going to look a lot worse then a few dust spots.

dust on or in a lens will only show up in the out of focus circles as a spot, if it's big enough, few rarely are.

exactly. If dust shows up in the image, it is either a really thick blob on the last lens surface, which you could clean easily or it is on the sensor. Dust inside a lens will only have visible effects if it is really a big load - and then it will mainly affect contrast.

FallisPhoto [at] aol [dot] com

He fixes all my old lenses

He would probably make that lens like new for $25

He is a great repairman that specializes in rangefinders but also does SLR lenses. I pick up old lenses in bad condition and he returns them to me like new, removing dust and fungus and everything.

I am not affiliated with him but I like him a lot.

Google "FallisPhoto" and you'll find him all over the 'net

Good luck!
Craig
