Default *ist DL with Mono lights

k, so when I bought my camera the guy at wolf sold me an adapter to go with my camera that would allow me to use a sync cord and my mono lights. When I put it on the camera though I get nothing. The strobes will see the adapter when I use the test button but the camera doesn't seem to see it. Is there a setting I need to change to allow it to?

This shoud work automatically. You have one end of the cord in the camera and the other end in the monolights, right?

Well, the camera doesn't have a sync plug, I had to buy an adapter to place on my hot shoe mount. The adapter will fire the strobe through the test button but when I fire the camera nothing happens.
