Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro
Just wondering how decent this lens is.
I am on a 40d and realize I need to be buying better lenses/ However, I just don't have any cash for it right now. I am itching to get a telephoto with good range. I just need something for a few sporting events coming up soon in my area that I need the reach for. Will this be alright for a temp itch fix. Or should I not even bother?   __________________

in the canon world, if you can afford the 70-300 IS. this lens comes in a good close second.

I had this lens for my Nikon D300 for a week. I was looking for a portrait lens (something in the 100mm range) and bought it used it for a week and returned it. Reason for return it just was too much of a range for studio work as stated I need a 100mm range lens only. The 70-300 was very nice and cheap as well it was $200 as it was being sold at $80 off. It was also very noise focus motor (I assume it has a motor) also sometimes it would not even focus. for the price very nice lens.
There is actually a web site that reviews this lens and they liked it. I will look for the link.. I also already had a 55-200 Nikon VR lens so did not do much for me. |

It is a great little lens. I have one. Don't use it much, but it does work good at a great price.
