5D/7D IR Photography

Has anyone tried to take any pics using an IR filter on your 5D or 7D? I've seen several pics on the site where it was used but I can't find anywhere else online that it's been attempted with these cameras.

I thought I would ask before I went out and bought a filter.

I have not tried this myself. After doing a little reading on it, there seems to be mixed views on how well the 5D does with IR. (If you'd like to read some others' experiences, go to the Konica Minolta SLR Talk forum at dpreview.com and type in "IR" in the find box. Just don't tell anyone I recommended you check at dpreview! ) I'm not sure how much the filters cost, but it sounds like there are other cameras that will do a better job at this. If the filters are relatively cheap, then trying it out can't hurt!

I already started looking at a few on ebay and they're not much. I may just buy a lower grade filter and see what happens...if it does well, then I'll buy a nicer one.

I read many reviews from many sites but none seemed certain about anything. I'll just be the guinea pig. I'll report back,
