Whatever you thinking is on the camera and/or the sensor, in my opinion, their website has a lot more cool on it than Canon has on theirs, by a long ways.
Click the link below, and hit the Home link in the lower right if you don't want to watch the "movie"... http://www.sigma-sd14.com/ __________________

Sigma is primarily a lens manufacture, the SD14 is a plaything for them as is the Foveon sensor. It doesn't have to be profitable as Sigma is a closely held company. There is no way Sigma would shoot itself in the foot by providing Canon or Nikon mounts when their camera has a proprietary mounting for their lenses. You don't call in a goat to watch your cabbage patch.

Sigma probably won't incorporate Canon or Nikon mounts, but don't think for a moment that they are not very serious about the digital camera market and that the SD9, SD10, SD14 and DP1 are "playthings" for the company. Companies, including Sigma do not work that way. The Sigma founder and president is very serious indeed about his digital camera division as a number of us have witnessed in personal conversations.

I don't think it is a plaything either. If it was, they wouldn't just pull back the production to fix some issue. The new release is slated for end of February. We'll see.
But the SD9 and SD10 were and still are pretty good picture takers. |

Hello there!!
Sigma is serious about being in the camera business, but if some other company picks up the Foveon sensor or another company comes out with a sensor like Foveon's in a different camera Sigma will be in trouble. Their price is to high for the camera and what it can do, but it's good to see a company hold a product until it's right instead of dumping it on the public. I can see Sigma moving to the 4/3 mount and it would be a same move for them. When there is an announcement it's also Olympus and Sigma and Sigma has said that if there was a demand they may do it, well there is a demand and now Sigma is making all their lenses in the 4/3 mount. PMA will be interesting. Rumor has it that Olympus has a prototype with a Foveon sensor. Their very close in size and this is a way Olympus could have a great 14mp sensor in their cameras using the 4/3 design. We'll see soon 21/2 months til PMA. Roger |

Think it will be BIG if Sigma were to make a move to the 4/3rd system, and if Olympus were to incorporate the Foveon sensor it will be awesome! Just imagine what Olympus, Sigma, Panasonic & Leica might have come up together with some new toys for us! Its getting me with interest already.
