I have the Minolta 5D. I am very happy with it and have bought several lenses and a lot of accessories. The first three lenses were bought new. I have since discovered the used market for lenses.

I have 4 film Maxxums, mostly old ones that were thrown in with other things I wanted, and a variety of lenses for them. When it came to choosing a DSLR, the Konica Minolta 5D was a natural choice. As far as I'm concerned, it has plenty of pixels except when I might want to heavily crop. I sometimes use it with a 400mm f/5 telescope, but that's cumbersome. I just got a Minolta 500mm f/8 AF mirror lens that should be less of a drag to use. The 5d's white balance system is as good as anything I can imagine. I carry a white reference card that makes any ambient light perfect.
