Another "re-badged" Olympus and you HAVE to buy the lens with the camera. Some features of the camera WILL NOT work with other manufactures lenses. In trying to "capture" a clientel, they in fact are limiting themselves out of the market.

The limitation on how AF will work is the biggest bugbear for me as sidebyte notes. I believe you can only do a particular type of AF in LiveView when using the PanyLeica lenses? I'd like to know if that's a technical limitation or whether Panasonic are deliberately crippling features unless you use their lenses...

I think it is some technical limitation that effects either the "phase-difference" or "contrast AF" system.
It has a 15 face detection system which is designed to make faces clear and crisp. The downside is that when used, the camera sets the iso and presumably the appropriate aperture for you automatically. Might not be what some people want. In my book, this is just a re-badged Olympus E-410, except it has a movable LCD screen. What it adds is offset of course by the limitations. The L10 is a lens based IS system, so that could be better or worse. Worse in that to get IS, you need to wait for Panny to release IS lenses, because Olympus has IS in body and probably won't release any IS in-lens lenses. Is it all worth the $1295 suggested price? Hope the street price is a LOT less, because an E-410 or E-510 seems like a better buy? |

Panasonic don't seem to have learned the lesson of the L-1, or maybe they really did sell a boatload at the original exorbitant price
One thing is for sure, just like the L-1 this L-10 will be available at half the price in 6 months or so . I can see L-1's available for about £650 or less these days, including the supposedly very good 14-50mm IS lens. Almost tempting to buy one just for the lens. Hmm, there's an idea - sell the body (will it sell on it's own?), and sell my 14-54mm Oly lens. End result, a nice 'Leica' lens with IS for free potentially. Problem then is - I want to stick to Oly and IS in lens as well as in body is not a good thing (not to mention the redundant aperture dial). Damn, they've thought of everything . |

So how long before we see a silver one that says "Leica" on it? =)
