I think with the ability to shoot photo's at any given time the Leica would be a very excellent option for those who feel it is needed. the ability to capture photo's in any method be it cellphone,SLR,DSLR, Daguerreotype, or the Leica M9 is the obvious important fact, but for me the insane portability coupled with Leica's IQ offering, yes, it is worth the price to some who are fortunate to afford it. Yes, I would swap my Canon 5D MK2,Zeiss 35mm 1.4 ZE instantly for one, but in the mean time, 2K more to save . I may be a loon, but I feel the mere size is key, plus the better than point and shot/4/3's offerings in a sense helps as well!

Leica is a respectable brand , but not cheap, the quality is awesome according to test in magazines , but if you buy a leica camera you buy something exclusivew that not every body can afford to spend on equipment

Contax is such a firm too DDR film technique but oh so good but prices start at a 4 figure factor adn rises hard.

I own a m9 from Leica besides my other gear and i must say the construction is much better.
But i wont say it can make better pictures then another body
Its not the camera that decides if the picture becomes good

Soon also may sell the M9

It depends on your definition of overpriced. My definition is if I expect the price to go down, it is overpriced. I expect Leica prices to go up. It has been said that a Leica is a "Veblen good". That is an item that becomes more desirable the more expensive it gets. The same could be said of Rolex watches and diamonds.

Sure, so do I, if I could afford it. But do you want it enough to order one? The more disposable income you have, the easier it is to indulge in such wishes. Sometimes it's really a drag having to work for one's money and not having enough of it.

Like the old Rolling Stones song Korman, You can't always get what you want, but you can get what you need.

Isn't "Leica" German for "overpriced" ?
