In his acceptance speech he apologized to all the other football players for the previous winner being too rough.

I know you guys are seeing this as another reason to bash him, but its not like he either nominated himself or lobbied for it. Heck wouldnt he of been nominated back in february or something? So blame the panel, dont blame him.
But I think even you guys would have to admit, Obama is more interested in peace then his predacessor (though you will most likely call it weakness). Take the incident with NK recently where those 2 girls crossed into the country and taken as prisoner. Bush would of been all fire and brimstone and probably said something like "We will use any and all necessary force to free those 2 people". And they would probably still be over there in a prison, while we would be closer to a conflict with that lunatic kim jong Ill. But apparently, no force was needed. And they are home right now. Being diplomatic instead of threatning people or invading them doesnt mean you are weak or a kiss ass. It just means as a politician, hes doing his job. Things can be handled without always raising a gun to someone. |

This was a political favor from someone. And the vote merely extended that favor, imo. Quote:
Kim Jong just wanted to see Clinton. Obama had very, very little to do with that situation. As for the Peace Prize itself, think about all of the other more deserving people on the list. A good article, published BEFORE the announcements, shows a number of completed work that has gone to further peace in regions or worldwide. This year's award is a farce and does nothing but weaken its impact for future winners. |

I wont disagree. In fact, I was just as shocked as probably anyone that he got this. I just understand people targeting him with this. Its the panel we should take issue with. Anyone can talk a good game, but they need the actions to back it up. And before its asked, do I think he deserved it? Not right now. Maybe some day. But he hasnt activly taken a part in anything worth getting it.
for China, they are a fine line to walk with. They hold a couple trillion dollars worth of our debt. And despite what the finance people say, we arent out of the woods yet. Yes, the dow is back at 10000. But, oil is creeping back up to $80 a barrel. The dollar is still dropping in value (1 EUR = $1.5 USD). Unemployment is still at 10% and CNN said foreclosures last quarter broke a record. Even with the federal money given to states, some states are still close to bankruptcy. So our economy is still not right. But at least the Las Vegas of NY (Wall St) has recovered. So when youre living paycheck to paycheck, you dont slap the guy signing your check. Thats where we seem to be with China. As for NK, yeah. Again I agree. Obama had little to nothing to do with that. But I know George's track record shows what his reaction would of been. |

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. That pretty much described his Senate career, too. ![]() Quote:
I don't think Bush would have risked war with a nuclear power to get two reporters out of jail who CLEARLY knew what they were doing. You can't play those games without taking the risks of capture. |

Bush and Rice just seemed to really like to threaten people. They both seemed very 'cowboyish' in their approach to things. I was actually surprised Hillary wasnt going to do something similar as she started off the year doing the same thing.
Sadly, every politician acts like a career politician. Thats why shit hasnt gotten done in ages. And I wasnt aware that the award had been turned down before. He probably could of or even should of. |

Yes, he could have refused it but his ego will not let him. Take a good look at this guy beyond the political moves he is making.
He is in the range somewhere of being an Egotist to a Borderline Personality. Neither are good for running a country... ![]() |

Do you seriously think we'll EVER see a presidential candidate who doesn't fit that description? Regardless of party or political leaning, the people running for president aren't the ones we really need in charge. They are just the ones willing to put up with the hassle and scrutiny of a national campaign.

I think you need to be egotistical to do the job. Who in their right mind would take a job that while it pays ok, you are responsible maybe not directly for, but to respond to almost every situation in the entire world. If one person is out of work, it is your fault (in their eyes). You have to deal with a couple hundred million people whose view points are all over the spectrum. Some will agree with everything you say, others will disagree with everything, and then the ones in the middle. And you have to somehow make all these groups feel maybe not satisfied, but that they tolerated the decision.
And that was before the internet. Now with a news camera on you almost 24/7/365, and everyone able to see or hear what you are saying at that exact moment, there is no room for error. For as much as there are people who hate BO and/or GB, there are presidents that are equally as loved. But how would they stand up to today's scrutiny? Take Kennedy. American royalty. Slept around, hung out with mobsters, and im sure other vices. Thomas Jefferson. One of our forefathers. Wrote the Declaration of Independence and all that. He was a slave owner complaining about not having freedoms. And look at what they have to deal with. Leaders like Kim Jong Ill, kings and leaders of the middle east, militaristic dictators, and just general hard asses. If you arent egotistical, you will be eaten alive. |

Interesting comments. Either Obama is to blame for all our misery or he isn't. Make up your mind. I'm counting on you guys to clear this up. Should I hate him becuase of his color? He hasn't been in office long enough for me to do otherwise. I wasn't allowed to hate G.W. - that would have been unpatriotic, I was told. Please help me to better understand. There seems to be two sides to everything. Should we hate Obama? Should I leave the GOP because the party is falling apart and there is no internal direction to fix it? Should I leave the Dems because the GOP says they are all liars? Did G.W. tell the truth to get us into war with IRAQ?
TOO MUCH FREAKING BLAME GOING ON HERE! If you didn't want Obama in the White House, why did you vote for him? You didn't? Well, someone did and a lot of them, too. It's our country. We can't fix it if we spend all day blaming each other. It took a long time to screw it up. What sort of idiot thinks it should be fixed in a few months? It took lessor minds decades to foul things up. Have a great weekend. Or, you could start a Civil War, if you like. It worked the last time. |
