Walter, if a situation arises that we interpret as the "rapture" and we are still on earth... then we'll also think that for some reason we didn't make the cut. And that will only force us to try harder to be the people that God wants us to be... I seriously doubt that we'll be doing anything to endanger you.

When the "rapture" happens, all of Gods children will be taken home... which means they won't be here anymore to annoy you!

, because I believe literally in the Bible, in the creation account found there, and in the Rapture as well. Yet I would suspect that I am as good a steward of the earth as you, if not better. I would also say that whatever I think of a war, I have no power to bring on the Rapture any faster or slow it down.

But the biggest thing I see in your post is this - the huge guiding factor in my life is God, through what I believe is his word, the Bible. Yet because I say this, you have automatically categorized me and put me in the same box that you put everyone who calls themselves a Christian, rather than judging me for the things I say and do.

I'm not judging you for being something you can't help (like, I don't know, a Down's syndrome person or an amputee or something) - I am judging you for things you say. One of the things you've said is that you literally believe the bible. I judge that as ridiculous. I'd be likewise judgemental of someone who insisted that they were visited by alien unicorns from the star Rigel every night - it's just that there happen to be a lot more christians than people who are visited by alien unicorns, and that gives the christians some moral support in their lunacy.

Isn't the shoe on the other foot? Aren't you doing the exact thing you despise in Christians? Judging someone because of their belief system?

The fact that christians might judge me is not the main reason I distrust christians. The main reason is simply the fact that they believe ludicrous things which have the potential to physically, socially, artistically, or aesthetically endanger me in the future. I'm openly judgemental of that.

Don't tell me it's because of what you see other "Christians" do or not do, or what's happened in history. If you are honest with me here, you will say that I deserve to be judged for myself.

Yes, but isn't one very big facet of "yourself" the fact that you literally believe the bible? I mean, if that's not "you", then what is? I'm openly opposed to the christian belief structure. Is that not me? I think it is me. I deserve to be judged for that (positively or negatively, you be the judge).

EDIT (just for you, Bri Bri): I don't mean any extraordinarily hostile tone here, I'm just being honest. I'm sick of appending smileys to sentences that I'm sure are going to offend some people though, as it strikes me as dishonest. And also, If you are Christian, maybe stick with the New Testiment. It's all the happy, forgiving stuff. But to all my Jewish friends, you rock too. God doesn't play.

But what neither of them allow is judgements by us lowly no ones. Well maybe the Jewish faith a bit, but Christians....it's a un debated no no.

But again, that's a SMALL portion of the World's religion. This is a BIG forum, with all kinds of wonderful faiths.

And we all have the right to believe in our God, Gods, or no Gods. If there is a judgement, we will all get to that soon enough. The thought police are not the judge. The judge is the judge.
So maybe instead of judging others, spend some time just being cool to one another.
And if you think that's a judgement from me, you need to look more at yourself.

Hmm, I don't think the "four horsemen" are actual men on horses... I think John was just trying to describe what he saw, and didn't have words for whatever modern warmachine or whatever it was that he saw.... Guys from the stoneage would probably call aeroplanes dragons if they saw them... The revelations is sometimes painfully accurate, and one of those parts of the good book that have me doubting my dispelief in the "cosmic jew zombie"...

Those passages could just as well be describing things you could not imagine that will happen 2000 years from today. Four horsemen might be like cybernetic robot war machines from 4027.

The human mind is almost programmed to draw connections between things. It serves us well - makes us smart and able to learn. But a lot of those connections are spurious - hence "deja vu", "synchronicities", and stupid religious convictions.
