So, my family went to see "The Hunger Games" when it first came out.
My daughter wanted to try to shoot a bow and arrow.
I did a little research, and it turns out there's a private archery club not to far from my house. They were having an open house event where the public was welcome.
For $10 a person, you get a safety lesson, get to shoot a couple of different bows for about twenty to thirty minutes, and a tour of the place.
They have a few different ranges, with different challenge levels, etc.
All in all, not too shabby.

An acquaintance of mine is into bow hunting, so I sent him an e-mail asking him about this club and if he knew anything about them.

It turns out I should have read about the club officers. He's the Vice President.

Okay. We went to this open house, and it's the first time my wife has shot a bow, as well as the first time my daughter has.
The last time I shot a bow was 11 years old in Boy Scouts. Yeah, it's been a while. In fact, I don't think compound bows were very popular then. Certainly very expensive. I shot a Longbow back then. I don't even think it was a "recurve".

To make an even longer story a little shorter, I'm now out $2400 for three compound bows and a dozen arrows each.

The real bummer? Today while getting our bows sighted in, I have already ruined two arrows.
I guess they call it "Robin Hooding" your arrows. I hit one arrow directly in the nock with another arrow, splitting it right down the middle.

And my wife thought photography was expensive.
