Hehe...well, I'm in the process of reading my Japanese textbook but I don't think that is what you had in mind.

I tend to read about 3 books at once. I last read the "Chronicles of Narnia" (because of the movie...had read it multiple times as a kid), Terry Pratchett's latest book "Thud", and I resurrected another book from my childhood "Mara" a fiction about how Thutmose came to power when overthrowing Hatshepsut. I've been contemplating starting in on "Les Miserables" which I haven't read for a while, or another of my favourites which is "Count of Monte Cristo" but I'm thinking that right now I'm going to go for brainless books that don't take any of my precious few brain cells away from concentrating on Japanese.

I just finished (well, 5 pages left) "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" from the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. I've also been reading stuff from Jane Kirkpatrick (5 so far), a historical fiction author from Oregon. Plan to start another of hers on the plane tonight.

And for book club, I am reading a book called Witness, by Karen Hesse.

The last book I actually read cover-to-cover was the third in the Harry Potter series, The Prisoner of Askaban (sp?) which is somewhat difficult because my wife considers them un-Christian. I also reread the entire The Chronicles of Narnia series every few years or so and have also purchased extra copies of C.S. Lewis' books The Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity so I can lend them out to people who might be interested in such things. I seldom consent to lend anything else from my private library and keep close track of those books I do lend out, except the ones I have extra copies of. I highly recommend The Great Divorce. Currently in the process of rereading Isaac Asimov's The Caves of Steel. Alexander Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo is also in my library and I like the book but haven't read it in quite a while.

Update: Finished The Caves of Steel last night and checked out HP& the Goblet of Fire from the library.

I haven't seen the c. 1985 BBC version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in full but I have VHS copies of the others up to and including The Silver Chair. Would like to know how the new version compares.

It does have chapters for the different religions ( The celebrated holidays and what they mean. Also, the core beliefs and some history [origin and changes made along the way].) and explained some similaries by quoting scriptures.
