Default Disney bound, need tips please.

Hi,

We are off to Disney in Orlando on Monday for a 2 week trip. I am starting to get a little nervous having never been to the US before or to a big park like Disney. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me their top tips, photographic or otherwise, for coping with Disney with 2 kids (8 & 5).

I will be taking :-

D70 + 18-70
Memory Cards 2 x 256Mb
PD70X 40Gb
Polariser
Lens Cloth
Spare Battery

Canon A510 P&S
512Mb SD

Thanks in anticipation.

Cheers

Alex

If you have time head to Costco and get a 1gb card for $89 you'll probably need more than the 2 x 256 unless you want to upload during the day. Other than that, have a great time!

Thanks. I will be shooting JPEG as this is more a familly holiday than a photo trip so 2 x 256Mb will give me 144 at top whack or 288 a little smaller. I can't think I am going to take more than that in one day. Plus the Canon A510 will take 300+ on it's 512Mb. Surely 450 pictures in one day is enough? :-\

Also, is it worth me dragging the 70-300 across for the days we do Animal Kingdom?

I'm looking at going to Disney in January next year, ostensively for the children (though they're still too young to appreciate or understand giant mice), but really so I could check out the Space Center. To me it defines 'big boys toys' .

Funny cos the Space Center is one of the places that we don't really fancy. :

We might take a trip down to St Petersburg.

Don't forget a leash, a megaphone, or throat lozenges (from yelling at them to wait up).

Don't forget money. You'll need that too. Take a big zip lock bag for the D70 in case it rains, and it does alot there, but only for 5 minutes or so.

I hope your staying at the properties there. Saves a lot of time. If so, you can go out early maybe while the rest are getting ready, and shoot some sunrises over the many bodies of water. Many photo ops. The 8 year old might "learn" from Epcot, but the 5 year old might be more bored with it. When I was there, we whipped through Epcot in less than a day, but other families have taken three days. Lots of "different" world type images to shoot there. Have to work with bright noon day sun though.

I'm sure you have maps and all, and have sort of a game plan on where to go, and when, right?

Thanks for the tips Mr Pickles.

We are staying at a villa nearby. We have a gameplan but it's kinda flexible.

LUCKY DUCKY !
I would give both my legs to back to Disney!!

Your kids are going to love it!

My favorite place to visit was Magic Kindom. On Saturday or Sunday I forget which, they have fireworks over Cinderellas castle. It's amazing. Animal Kingdom was also awsome. There is just so many animals that you could spend hours photographing. While your in Animal Kingdom you would deffinatly want go on the Safari Tour. The rides you could spend hours on. The Buzz Lightyear Adventure really sticks out in mind. But my most favorite thing about Disney is the Characters walking around. You can get Minnie and Mickey (along with so many others) autographs!!! I LOVED getting autographs!! By the way, no need to fear about us americans, we don't bite! But we may look a little bit scary at first with our accents! Hope you have a wonderful time!!

Emily, 12

PEACE OUT

Have fun! I have always enjoyed Sea World as much if not more than Disney. Sea World is very close to the Disney park.
