I love going to the games and unlike a lot of folks in the stands, I actually watch what is happening on the field.

Yep, if baseball is boring, you don't know baseball. Nothing happens in a baseball game by chance. The fun of watching baseball is understanding the game and seeing which strategy plays out. Nothing better that being at the ball park, watching a game, having a beer or two and a good ballpark hotdog. MLB just needs to bring back more afternoon games and dump the designated batter rule for the AL.

Baseball isn't called a thinking man's game for nothing.

See, Fran, you just never know about us old farts. Especially us old liberal farts. Of which I am not exactly sure you can count old gryphonslair dude as. Although he is very very close to being one....

Baseball is not a complicated game to understand. I can appreciate the strategy, but it's boring as hell to watch, especially on television. I remember seeing Pete Rose play when I was a kid, and that was the last time I was at the ballpark.

The game as a whole has lost a lot of its luster in my opinion. Too many walkouts/lockouts/strikes over the years, too many players juicing. Then there's the whole Barry Bonds asterisk affair. Pro sports in general have all kind of gone downhill with the scandals and such, but baseball seems to be the worst.

Yeah, there are lots of baseball teams that have a system in place to intentionally injure other players and get paid a bounty for doing so. Where do you find the Dallas Cowbowys training camp...... the closest jail.

You really want to talk scandals here?

All sports are tainted. (hockey seems to be relatively free from drugs, but the headhunting by some players hurts it) Its all about who you are a fan of.

Im a fan of the Cowboys, but not the Michael Irvin types, but the Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith. Big big Yankees fan. Rocking my Don Mattingly shirt right now. Youll never see me with a Steve Howe, Doc Gooden or Darly Strawberry shirt though. I will probably get a Jeter though. I dont follow basketball, but when I did, it was the "Dream Team" years where the bad guy was Barkley, but all he did is shoot his mouth off, not drugs or his wife or something.

Sure!

1) 1919 Black Sox. 8 members got paid to throw the World Series...it doesn't get much more scandalous than this. Still going to be #1 on just about anyone's all-time list.

2) Danny Almonte. 14-year old ringer pitched a perfect game in the Little League World Series. His team was stripped of all titles they acquired that year if I remember correctly.

3) Pete Rose. Blacklisted for betting on baseball.

Yes, there are certainly some pretty serious scandals in other sports. The recent Penn State rape trials come to mind. The wife of a former NFL player was just sentenced to 3 years in prison for a hit and run, and another former NFL player is under investigation for possible involvement in several murders. There have been lots of point-shaving incidents in basketball. Heck, even the Olympics is tainted (Tonya Harding hitman, Salt Lake City bribes).

But I think if people were asked to create a top 10 list, it's going to be hard to beat those listed above.

New Orleans Saints

And the Pete Rose thing is just a joke. Omg, he bet on baseball. He didnt bet on his team's games and hes still the best hitter ever to swing a bat and do it naturally.
