I have this lens, and a correct adjective. I think it is a great lens, but have not paired it with a 1.4x yet. Judging by your results so far, you are getting some fine results in these images.

How do you like the stow and go like lens hood on it? Weird to get comfortable with since it is a twist and slide instead of a remove and reverse?

Jury still out on the hood... whilst a clever design it also feels a bit loose and wobbly

I am impressed with the lens so far and it mirrors what I thought when I hired it last yeAr

Yeah, kind of hobby, but only when stored for me. It is kind of like a shock absorber and moves a bit to absorb the weight of the camera and lens if you lay it down, which apparently you aren't supposed to do but everyone does. Might have taken 10% of the build of the tripod collar and put that in the hood because you can kill a small bear with that tripod collar.

Nice images and nice lens!

Are you shooting with image stabilization?

Are you using a tripod or monopod?

Have you tried manual focus?

Always shoot with image stabilisation on auto and never use a tripod or monopod.

Haven't tried manual focus as yet as have found auto to be pretty good... except tracking... but that could be me

Large crop and lens did well to pick out from background clutter
