Post Nikon Mirrorless

Apparently Nikon is not rolling over and letting the mirrorless world go on without them, so they confirmed they are working on a new one, which kind of means they aren't working of a FF Mirrorless camera, so assume it is an APS-C, or smaller sensor size. Given they have a lot of APS-C lenses, an APS-C sized sensor mirrorless sounds like the way they should be going...

They did say this....
"While details are confidential, we can say that we are currently developing new mirrorless products that build upon Nikon's strengths, and offer the performance prospective customers expect, including the ultimate optics performance, image-processing technologies, strength and durability, and operation."

Interesting... very interesting... Maybe something that can compete with the G?

Nikon waited too long for me. I started using Olympus and Fuji mirrorless.

Ahh, what goes around comes around. You'll be back.

Seriously, I did hear others say that this will be Nikons first mirrorless camera adventure and I thought "What? What was the Series 1 line?"

Anyway, also heard that Nikon said when released it will immediatly compete and be as good as the current crop of Mirrorless cameras. That statement was equally puzzling. Compete with what? All mirrorlesses? The supposed biggest, baddest, Sony a9? The best of Olympus or Fuji? Seemed like a bold or nutty statement, especially when they don't know what anyone else might have when they finally get it released.

Oh well. Wait and see. Then Narsuitus can buy one

"performance prospective customers expect..."

I'm interested in who Nikon's target market is - who exactly are these "prospective customers."

To get my attention, Nikon would have to produce a 6x7cm medium format mirrorless.

I don't think more than a very few models of any digital cameras with a format larger than FF exist, and they are horrendously expensive. A full-frame mirrorless would be more nearly on Nikon's radar, and I doubt that the market would support a multi-thousand dollar mirrorless FF camera from Nikon. After all, the Leica M series models don't seem to be exactly jumping off the shelves.
