You're correct, the D7000 itself uses a proprietary accuset.
But: with the additional battery grip
(available for low price as replica in good quality, paid 50 Euro) you can use standard AA/R6 battery or accu.
My Tip: Eneloop HR-3UTGA from SANYO
also suitable for Nissin Di622

Let me get this right. Are you saying the camera can ONLY use the Nikon ones? At the moment I have no intention of using a grip with this camera so, AA batts are useless too.

thanks for your reply.

And I am using this one in D800

It is EN-EL15, for D7000 too. It works great, for stills and video, however mine does not let camera remember the number of frames shot after you turn off camera power. For a $40 discount, I can handle that.

thanks for your reply.
Let's see now, you havr paid several hundred or thousand dollars for a camera and the same for lenses and you want to go cheep on a battery. Doesn't sound cost effective to me. Spend the extra few dollars and purchase the battery from Nikon and be done with it.

I used to think that too, but now they want $60 fora battery. I am very happy with the $20 batteries.

I ve used "cheap" batteries for years in my D90 and never had any trouble. Got one of these Xmas for my D7000 works and looks exactly like Nikon own, no problems at all. Both my sons use them in their D7000 as well without problem.

There are lots on eBay now but they ve only been available fairly recently.
