Default unhappy with d1x battery life
recently purchased used d1x.love it but hate battery life.any ideas on best replacement battery and also what flash is best for d1x.would rather stay with nikon but open to other suggestions. THANKS

Yup, battery on D1X sucks, but the aftermarket batteries will take you a bit farther. Chances are good you got the camera with a very old (and run down) battery, so don't despair too much. I think I used Black Diamond batteries, and they were good.

Don't throw out your Nikon battery. You may need to unscrew the cap and use that on the aftermarket battery. The caps on those aftermarket batteries may not fit the camera all that well.

BatteryBarn is the place I go to. Great price, fast shipping and excellent service.
I've used them in -10f in a blizzard to +110 in the shade without a qualm.

For sure keep the "doors". The historic pitfall of the D1 series is the short battery life, even when they were new. The aftermarket batteries seem to be highly more popular than OEMs.

I use the LENMAR version in my D1X. The original battery still works, but not for very long. www.lenmar.com

The older cameras weren't as efficient in using battery power, so even new batteries don't last as long as they do in today's cameras
