Lens Rental repair data

Cross posting this for anyone that might not visit the top section. Very good info here. And as a note, I wont suggest the Tamron 70-200 2.8 anymore.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting read about LenRental's frequency of repairs on certain lenses. But considering how heavily these lenses are used and abused (likely similar to how rental cars are treated - drive it like you stole it), the shipping back and forth, etc. it is surprising the repair frequency is not higher.

Im guessing they may of left out repairs that were most likely needed due to the renter. But I dont know.

I'm reading this as if the repairs were the result of the renters over using/abusing the lenses. But this is just my take on it.

the famous 18-70 is not on the list , probably while it is so darn good that it almost never brakes down

Well, I doubt people look to rent one either.

Personally, I'm waiting for the OS version, but I also noticed they had no problem selling them off. Both the Nikon and Canon mount lenses were no longer in stock.

I see this (and the Sigma 70-200/2. as competitors to Nikon's 80-200/2.8 due to the lack of OS/VR, rather than the 70-200/2.8 VR. The price advantage is much less on that (more even) playing field.

Thanks for pointing out the report!
