Default Trade Nikon 18-200 VR for Nikon 18-105 VR?

Trade Nikon 18-200 VR for the Nikon 18-105 VR?
Would that be stupid?
I own the 18-200 VR. I love it. I wish it didn't creep, but that's my only complaint.
I can sell it for like $550.00, and get a 18-105 VR for my daily carry.
I'd bank the rest. I'd have to purchase new filters, etc...
Should I "stay put"?
Am I going in the wrong direction?

Maybe if you were trading to like a 17-55 f2.8 tammy, or an 18-70, but trading your super zoom to a kit lens would seem like a bad idea.

So even if you could obtain a 18-105 VR for $250. And sell your 18-200 VR for $500.00, you would stay put?

Would you sell a porsche for a toyota?

What would you do with the other $250? Buy a lens to cover the range you just lost by buying a shorter lens? Absolutly no reason to do this. You gain nothing by doing it and lose the 105-200 aspect without buying another lens and then having 2 lenses that use to be covered by 1.

Douglas,
Great points.... I know, I know...
Sometimes I think my mind is slipping.
I'd have to sell/buy filters as well for I have a CP, ND & UV filter for my 18-200 VR already...
I think I need to stay put....

Yeah. Its one thing to upgrade or even sidegrade. But this would be a downgrade. Not necessarily in quality, but in flexability. The 18-105 gives you nothing that isnt already achieved by the 18-200. Both are VR. Both have similar varying apperatures. But the 18-105 isnt an 18-200.

Why lose the range. Im willing to bet that you would be kicking yourself in the @ss the first time some bird or, other animal was close and, you didnt have the 200mm when the 105 would be way short.
