Nikon 14-24 love

There are lots of reasons I really love using the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 but it's a great lens for images like this. The top of the building does curve inward so that's not distortion... it's reality.

Here's a shot of the Bank Atlantic Center Building where the Florida Panthers play. We did a shoot there for some promotional materials, presentations and brochures.

Trying to shrink the file to something that works for display here so I hope not too much is lost in the "shrinkage".

I just wish it were not a “G” lens so that I could spread the love to my Nikon F2.

From the reflections in the front of the building and the nicely lit foreground, it looks like you had some serious lights a few feet up in the air there to either side of the camera.

You lucky devils! But regarding the front element, is it as exposed and prone to damage as it looks? And having to clean the very outside edges looks like it would be a real chore! Comments?

Straight out of the camera. I debated on leaving the reflection in or not. The lights are actually the stadium lighting for the front entrance. Some of the lights you see are inside. We worked for about a couple of hours on this series...different angles, in the air, on the ground... from the sides, from the floor.... This was either the 1/2 or 2 second exposure shot from, obviously, straight on... I dont' remember which (not at that computer right now). There's actually a serious shadow I'm standing in and it extends across the entire floor in front of me. We had a scissor lift for the shoot but I like the floor shots best.

The front of the lens doesn't extend as far out as say the Sigma 12-24 but yes, there is risk of damage to the front element but it's a superb lens. This lens is on par with whatever wide prime you want to put it up against in my opinion. When I blow this shot up, everything is sharp and clear all the way down to fine detail.
