Default nikon d 60

I was told by someone that there should be an indicator in the camera that lets me know if my exposure is correct... for the life of me i can't find that. i have a nikon d 60, i know there is a symbol that comes up to let me know that i am in focus but i do not see anything that is letting me my exposure is correct.. did i miss something?? i am tad bit confused...
and would apprecaite any help ..

I believe it depends on what mode you are shooting in. If you are in manual then you will see a dotted bar along the bottom of the viewfinder with a + on oneside and - on the other and, a large in the center. If you have it in the center it is supposed to be perfectly exposed for the AF area. In the Auto modes it is supposed to be exposed correctly.

and in the viewfinder there should be a green dot to the left when that lits the focus should be good to.

i do not know how you have setup the D60
I would go in the menu look for AF mode , most people have it in "closest subject" (green field rectangle) better is to select your AF point your self how this can be done is in the manual

see here :

Nikon D60 Autofocus Settings

i have all my nikon on " single area " on my Canon eos 300d i have it on auto to select the 7 AF points.

if you are refering to the D100 it is a good nikon camera . proffesional model so do not expect that it has many beginners options..

it has P,S,A,M Qual, WB and Iso And focus point on the jog dial . if you want a camera that is adapted from the D1oo take the nikon D70 or D70s , faster, seame or better IQ, and more adatped to firsttimers /starters and it is a heel of a better camera than a d60

because it has onboardf AF motor and is more pro/ prosumer and consumer oriented than a D60 wich is more of a compact transformed in to a dlsr ..

D1 or D100 are both about 10 years old. In terms of shutter accuations as well as technology, they would be a waste to get.

How much is super expensive? You can get a D50 or D70 relativly cheaply. Theyre both not too old, and the D50's metering is suppose to be on par with the D300 (and thats with 4-5 years seperating the technology. With other models in the middle). You can even pick up a D80 new for relativly cheap. No more expensive then a D60

right but do also not forget that a D1 or a D100 are professional models , aimed at a higher and more demanding market , douglas is right they are perhaps too old .

A nikon D80 is the daughter of the D200 (DAD) and desireable if the need is for a bigger and heavier camera . imho a D50, D70, D70S , D80 and perhaps D90 are way better than a D60. if you like the D60 you might alo like the " fischerprice" D 5000 a baby boy of the D90 (mom) and the D80 (dad)
