* I finally gave up waiting on the D200 and 18-200 vr .
* Decided to order the D200 with the 18-70 kit lens so I will at least have something to* use.* I will eventually buy better glass ,but from what I have read the kit lens is no slouch. Yeah it has its limitations but it is better than an indeterminate wait for Nikon to get the very popular 18-200 to market in any kind of quantity. Should be here early next week ( I have to work all weekend anyway) . Maybe I will have something to post* in another week. Bob__________________

You should have bought a Canon. Just kidding around. I hope you enjoy your new camera and look forward to your future picture posts.

I'd wait on the 18-200 until the hype has died down. If you want to get to 200mm, there are better ways to get there. The 80-200 f/2.8 being one of them and for only a couple hundred dollars more than the 18-200. The build quality is better and the optics are far superior to the 18-200 Julio |

For a lot of others, they are really wondering. I actually saw some threads on another board of "70-200 f/2.8 VR or 18-200 VR... which is better?" Personally, I believe every serious photographer or serious amateur's bag should have a version of a 70-200 / 80-200 f/2.8 lens. There is no substitute. Julio |

* Eventually I will buy one of the longer 2.8 zooms (i never shot with anything like a 105- 300 equivalent in 35 mm)but from my past shooting* my next lens purchase will most likely be a 17-55 2.8.* I have thought of getting some prime lenses but,* in tight surroundings there is nothing like a good zoom . I can remember doing backbends over couches and cramming myself into corners* trying to get everything in the frame with my old canon 50 1.2.* I am getting a little old for the contortionist act.
