The Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens that I just sold was a very long (when fully extended), very much plastic lens, that had a severe "hunting" problem, as well as a very slow AF (on an N90s). The optics were ok, but the build was too much like a toy lens.

Had the same one, terrible worthless piece of soft pasticy junk.... and it took really soft photos too. Not happy.

I use mine in manual focusing, but yes it does hunt in AF. Beyond that i think it's a great lens.

Nikkor 70-300G.

I read one owner's statement who wrote that his produced comic book effects. Mine was the same. Plus the constant whrrrr, crank, crank, whrrrr, wheeze, clunk, whrrr as it search for focus (which it only occasionally found) whether on my D70s or D300.Bought in Japan at the nearly $200 list price.

Could barely refrain from throwing it into the river. Barely.

LoL another one in the club. Mine will either go to the pawn shop, or used for target practice. Whichever I decide will give me more satisfaction

The optical performance of my Nikon 43-86mm f/3.5 zoom was so bad that it soured me to zoom lenses for decades.
