hey, guys!
i really gotta get an off-camera flash...and i can't afford not even the sb-600 now. So, my question is to you, nikon users...would you use an older speedlight? like the sb-24, sb-26? anyone has any experience with these on digital SLRs? I own a d70...and i am curios if the commander function for the pop-up flash will work with these older speedlights. thanx in advance! __________________

The cheapest way would be to get a sync cord. Not sure if D70 has a flash sync connection. if no sync connector on D70 You can get and optical slave for the external flash and then have the D70 flash trigger it.

But, if you get a peanut slave and set the pop-up flash to manual, you can trigger it that way. |

hm...i saw some sb-24 on ebay (of course, SH) at about 120-130$ (shipping included). A "peanut slave" - 30 + about 20-30 shipping charge = almost 200$... if i'd get a brand new sb-600 it'll be around 240$... that shouldn't be a difficult choice. sb-600, new.
...other opinions? |

How I use mine is I have an off camera cord hooked to the sb-800 for the front light, then I manually set the sb-28 for either fill or background illumination and hook it via a cord to the sb-800. Works pretty well, though it's obviously a corded solution. (But it's cheap! )__________________
