Default Nikon D3 Buffer Upgrade!

Check it out here.

All formats and compressions basically double... though you have to leave high ISO NR, Active D-Lighting, etc. all off.

I am sure there are many professional sport D3 owners out there that will jump on this and are pleased.

Sounds like Nikon money grab

Maybe the buffer is already the larger one and all all they do is make a software tweak and charge $500 for it

NOTE: I know other hardware companies have had memory features with 2 options but internal the chips are all in place and all that is required is Send us your hardware and more $$$ and you get more RAM.

They did this for the D1X too. As far as I know, they legitimately had to place new hardware into the camera, so I would assume that the D3 is the same.

Is Nikon still doing this buffer upgrade stuff? Jeez. Why don't they just give the camera enough memory to start with?

Considering we get into the realm of 100+ shots for the buffer at JPEG Fine, Large, I think the camera had enough memory to start with.

I am not sending mine in. For me, I am just fine. Now if they want to put in a 24MP sensor in the deal, mine is in the mail right now!
