Hi all, was wondering what flash would everyone suggest for a nikon D80, and if possible one that would also fit my D60?
Does the Speedlight SB-600 do this? __________________

I have the SB-600, well really 3 of them. And a D80. They work fine together. But if I was going to get just one speedlight I'd think I would get the SB-800. As if offers a few options the SB-600 doesn't. One being the ability to fire off camera with a PC cord. You get a 20 buck hot shoe/PC adapter and a PC cord and you running off camera. The wireless is less than 100% reliable. Especially once you get near the fringes of its zone.

The SB600 is great. Its big brother the sb800 has more features, but is a bigger/heavier flash. And the little brother the SB400 is suppose to be decent. But a real small step up from the built in flash.
A site suggested to me, that has really helped is KenRockwell.com |

The SB-600 is a fine flash to start out with. The SB-800 and SB-900 have more features, given their prices, but if money's an issue and you're not much of a flasher (or at least, not yet) just go with the SB-600.

I agree with gaopa2 Get the 800 (or wait and get a 900).

SB800 should be dropping in price soon now that the SB900 is out.
I use the SB800 all the time and love it. And with the extra 5th battery and NiMH 2500mAh batteries it cycles about 2 secs faster then with only 4 batteries. Hence I use 5 all the time. |

Don't forget, the SB400 will not work in wireless mode.
