Hello Everyone,
Just a quick questions regarding the two models on Nikon. Does anyone what is the real difference between the two? I am looking to buy a new camera to better pictures than an average "shooter" and hoping to get some helps from this great community. Regards __________________

The D80 and P80 are not in the same category. The P80 is an "Advanced Point and Shoot" camera, and the D80 is a "Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR)" camera. It would be like comparing apples to coconuts.
Here is a detailed review of the P80 Steves Digicams - Nikon Coolpix P80 - Hands on Review And here is a detailed review of the D80 Steves Digicams - Nikon D80 SLR User Review Hope this helps. Chris |

No Problem
![]() I should have mentioned that if you want to have really good pictures without paying an arm and a leg, you should go with a D40 like mine (less the $500 w/ a lens). The picture quality is way beyond any P&S that I have ever used, and it isn't too much more money then the P80 you asked about. it all depends how much you want to learn about photography though. with a SLR camera there is a learning curve, and if you aren't satisfied with one lens you will need to spend even more money on another lens, but for me those are small downsides to the quality of pictures that I get from my D40. plus, the learning experiance is a lot of fun, especially with the great community here at photocamel. Chris p.s. if your interested, you can probably find a review for the D40 at the same website I linked too before. |

You are right Chris. I should stick to basics and perhaps spend more in adding accessories.
Thanks again for you advice. __________________
