Firmware update feature is interesting, except that it's through the camera, and not plugging in a USB cable like Metz.

About time we got a hard switch for on/off, remote, and master. I know I've had instances where I wanted to just stick the -800 in the hotshoe for a shot and had to fumble with the buttons to switch it out of remote mode. SU-4 mode automatically changed back when it detected the camera, but remote mode didn't.

Yeah, but it won't work with my SD-8A....so I guess I'll buy another SB-800.

We'll order a couple of those flash units.

Of course the time will be right to pick up a few good used SB800's ....

For $500 we get four gels instead of two...

My roommate was talking to me yesterday on how the back is really cluttered. I'm willing to give it a chance, and I like the idea of the hard switch for modes, but for $500 I think I'm going to keep shooting with my SB-800's for now.

New battery pack is interesting, but what is that little threaded knob in the image with it?

It will screw the bat pack to the bottom of your camera base.

I'm "stuck" with Sb-800's as my current SD-8A bat pack won't work with a SB-900. I really wish Nikon would keep backward compatibly....seriously....I don't need several hundred dollars in battery packs... getting an SD-8A was like pulling teeth to begin with...very hard to come by.
