Default No sign of the 70-300 AF-S VR

Well there's a picture floating around of this lens, but no announcement as of yet from Nikon.

Is it internet roumor or is it real?

Julio

I'm hoping it's real, as 70-300 is a very useful travel range, currently occupied by two lenses that could be much, much better.* The optics had better be improved, though, or else I'd just skip it.

Well, the hope is there.

I believe the "leaked" photo showed a 70-300 with the same aperature range, but with AF-S, VR and the nano crystal coating.

If so, perhaps they've improved the optics a tad.

I have the old version, and while the bokeh isn't much to sing and dance about, the lens was fine so long as you know it's limitations. It definitely isn't a low light lens and was somewhat slow focusing. In bright daylight conditions it was adequate and had a great range, was light, and you certainly could pack it along anywhere.
