I know, it's a shocker to think I would sell it. Nikon still has it, I am calling tomorrow to see what on earth they are doing if anything. I have to see if there is an appreciable difference whenever I get it back. I get limited use from this lens because there is no way I can carry such a heavy (for me) lens about in a back pack. So I can only use it when I am near my vehicle or at home. And I need to use a mono-pod to help me out. Not a good lens for trekking in the woods and fields for me. It has been great to use at events where I am more or less stationary.
And I did say I am considering selling it. Decision has not yet been made; I might be more thrilled with the 70-200 if Nikon fixes it. I am very happy with the 18-200 VR. It is not too heavy and takes great photos. __________________

Well, I'll tell you this. After I got my 70-200 back from Nikon, I dare say it was as good as many of the primes I've used and where it wasn't, it was darn close.
Wherever I go, I debate on whether or not I want to be without the 70-200 rather than whether or not I want to take it. I'm sure I'll be feeling the same way now about the 28-70 Nikkor. It's significantly bigger than the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 AF-S that I'd been using and 10mm larger around than the Tamron 28-75 that I have. Big lenses, but really big on quality. Julio |

I was on the waiting list for Ritz Camera for several months before the release of the D200 and was told around Christmas that I probably wouldn't have it until February. I jumped online and managed to grab one from Circuit City Online and used my deposit at Ritz to buy the SB 800 flash. I've heard stories of folks getting their 18-200 lens from local retailers rather than the usual suspects of BH or Adorama. You might also try Abes of Maine. Julio |

I got mine at Cord Camera. They have an online store and 800#. I would call the 800# because they do not always display the fact that they have the lens and camera in stock. They are wonderful to deal with.
Here they are: http://shop.cordcamera.com/storefron...spx?sfid=53874 1-866-338-CORD (2673) or email us at cordesales@cordcamera.com My experience with Adorama was such that I will no longer do any business with them. |

I have had the D200 and 18-200VR on order for a month now at JR.com.* Just talked to them and the lenses are still backordered. He said they had the bodies and the kit with the 18-70 but the other lens is very hard to get. I decided to give it a few more weeks because everything I have read about the 18-200 has been positive. Sure I would like to have faster glass but I can't afford the $2000+ for the lenses I would need to cover this same range in the pro lenses. The wait is making me crazy
