Although this camera has received some negative press because of its ridiculous choice to have automatic ISO escalation in low light conditions (you can control this fairly easily through their excellent menu system), and I honestly don't know how much distortion the images are going to have because of the intrinsic trade-offs in such a large zoom range, its overall handling, software, flexibility, feature set are very impressive. Without having to consult the owners manual, I was able to quickly access virtually the entire feature set because the menu structure is laid out in such a sensible and intuitive fashion. it is a very easy-to-use camera (check the video Videoclips about Nikon Coolpix P80 Digital Camera), and has enough depth of function to please the dedicated tweakophile, but can be used also as a very simple point-and-shoot camera for those not particularly technically inclined.
Problems: As noted above, Nikon made the mistake of creating automatic ISO adjustment which potentially escalates the ISO into ridiculously noisy territory in low light shooting without flash. As noted above this is easily correctable. There is the inevitable purple fringing at maximum telephoto. Otherwise the camera seems to handle beautifully. __________________

Do you have some images that you could post from the camera?
I'd be curious to see how Nikon has handled a few things like saturation and AF on the new digicams. How is AF on the camera? Can you select your own points or are you stuck with the face recognition and auto point selection? Things like that... I've not been a fan of the Nikon Coolpix line because, frankly, there's not been much to be excited about. I used to own a couple and my son still has his Nikon 5200 Coolpix but my wife has a Canon Digicam that I bought her a while back. Julio __________________
